Sukanya

Hi, I’m Sukanya, an IT Consultant, city escapee turned Lake District (and beyond) walker, podcast host, and all-round curious human.
After more than 15 years living in the South Lakes, I can confidently say I found my spirit home in the beautiful county of Cumbria. Swapping the fast pace of city life for wide open skies, winding trails, and the rhythm of rural life was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s felt like a rebirth.
Hiking is a deep passion of mine, it did take a while to grow this passion, and it comes with a twist. I live with a constant battle of vertigo, which adds a layer of challenge to every climb. But I push on. From Helvellyn to Skiddaw, Blencathra to Coniston Old Man, Wansfell Pike to Troutbeck Tongue, each hike has taught me to dig deep and push on, and my is it beautiful! My favourite? Easedale Tarn, starting from Grasmere Village. It’s just gorgeous. Peaceful. Grounding.
Outside of walking boots, you’ll often find me in the gym. Exercise is my tonic. Under the expert guidance of Rachel Parkinson, I’m currently focusing on refining my weight training technique and, even more importantly, practicing the discipline of consistency. It’s not always perfect, but each month brings more progress.
Music is another love, especially live gigs, I’m pretty open to any genre of music, but my happy place is between Pop, UK Garage, UK RnB, House, East/West fusion, Tamil and Bollywood. And I never tire of a good conversation. I’m deeply interested in people: their stories, their turning points, the stuff that shapes who they are. That’s what led me to start this podcast.
But as much as I love connection, I also really value solitude. I genuinely enjoy my own company, those quiet, reflective pockets of time are what help me recharge and stay grounded.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll join me – whether as a guest, a partner, or simply a listener – on this journey of walking, talking, and real connection.
